CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate overnight shootings that occurred Tuesday night in northeastern Catawba County, leaving one person hospitalized and prompting an ongoing criminal investigation.
According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first dispatched at approximately 11:28 p.m. to a reported shooting at a residence located on 34th Avenue Place NE. Upon arrival, patrol deputies discovered an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, and the victim was transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical for treatment. Officials reported that the individual remains hospitalized. No additional information regarding the victim’s condition has been released.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation’s Division responded to the scene and immediately began processing evidence and conducting interviews as part of the investigation.
While investigators were still working at the initial crime scene, deputies received reports of a second shooting at a residence on 22nd Street Lane NE. Investigators responded to that location and launched a separate investigation into the incident.
Authorities are actively working to identify those responsible for both shootings. At this time, investigators have not determined whether the two incidents are connected, and officials say the relationship between the shootings, if any, remains under investigation.
