Ashe County Man Charged With Child Sex Offenses In Catawba, Ashe Counties

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – A 23-year-old Ashe County man is being held without bond after authorities charged him with multiple child sex offenses stemming from an investigation involving allegations in Catawba and Ashe counties.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said its Special Victims Unit began investigating allegations involving a juvenile in May. Investigators said the alleged offenses occurred in both counties.

Josue Reynosco, 23, of Ashe County, was taken into custody Aug. 10, on charges connected to the investigation. he is being held at the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility without bound, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

In Catawba County, Reynoso is charged with:

  • Statutory rape of a child less than 15
  • Statutory sex offense with a child less than 15
  • First-degree kidnapping
  • Indecent liberties with a child

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office has also charged Reynoso with two counts of statutory rape with a child less than 15 in connection with alleged offenses that occurred in Ashe County.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office credited the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance and cooperation during the investigation.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. No additional information about the juvenile or circumstances surrounding the allegations was released.

All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
