BROOKFORD, N.C. – Authorities have announced a significant development in the homicide investigation surrounding the death of Claude Wayne Holsclaw, commonly known as “Doc.”
According to the Brookford Police Department, Joshua Ray Begley was taken into custody by law enforcement a few hours ago and is now in custody in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation.
Investigators say they are unable to release additional details at this time, citing the ongoing investigation and prosecution. Officials stated that more information will be made available in the coming days as it can be released without compromising the case.
The arrest follows what police described as countless hours of investigative work and extensive cooperation among numerous law enforcement agencies.
The Brookford Police Department expressed its appreciation to the public for providing tips, sharing information, and supporting investigators throughout the case.
Chief Will Armstrong also offered special recognition to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for its professionalism, commitment, and partnership during the investigation. Police credited the SBI’s expertise, resources, and tireless efforts as being instrumental in advancing the case.
The Department also thanked the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, first responders, and support personnel who assisted throughout the investigation. Officials said the case demonstrates what can be accomplished when agencies work together with a shared commitment to justice.
