Obituary

Robert “Percy” Wayne Link, 83, of Conover, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Caldwell County on January 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Horace and Mary Piercy Link.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjean McMillian (Bunk), Sonya Hunter (Fred) and Judy Drum (Kenneth); his brothers, Vance Link and Gary Link; and his brother-in-law, Larry Herman.

Robert retired after many years in the furniture industry. Known to many simply as “Percy,” he never met a stranger and was always quick to strike up a conversation. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and enjoying the lake He enjoyed grilling for family and friends, browsing flea markets, and giving back to his community through coaching and volunteering with youth athletics. Above all, Percy loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie Adcox Link, of the home; his daughter, Brandi Link; his son, Robbie Link (Stefani); his grandsons, Colby Link and Joshua Link, all of Hickory; his sisters, Mary Jo Herman of Mississippi and Tommie Ann Hall (Keith) of Conover; his sister-in-law, Brenda Link of Lenoir; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Gather of Friends will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
